Police have tragically recovered a body from the water near Chorlton Water Park this afternoon (March 21). Emergency services descended on the south Manchester beauty spot earlier today after reports of a body in the River Mersey - close to the water park.

Pictures from the scene show a number of emergency services at the scene, including police and fire crews. A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 11.10am today (21 March 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a body in the River Mersey, close to Chorlton Water Park. "Officers attended and a body was recovered from the water.
