Police probe continues after violence erupts on estate with one man charged
manchestereveningnews.co.ukPolice are continuing to investigate following a spate of violent incidents on an estate in Wigan. Officers were first called to reports of a 'large-scale' fight on Wellfield Road in the Beech Hill area in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, April 23.
Since then, a 'series of violent incidents' have been reported, police said. Over the past two weeks, nine arrests have been made in connection with the alleged incidents.
Warren Fox, 23, of Skylark Close, Southport, has been charged in connection with an incident on Laburnum Grove on April 23. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community The 23-year-old has been charged with possession of a firearm as well as aggravated burglary.
He will appear at Wigan Magistrates' Court today (May 5). Eight other people remain on police bail. Patrols have been stepped up in the local area, with a number of stop-and-search orders granted over the past two weeks.
