Police officer 'attacked by man carrying bladed weapon' at Edinburgh train station

A police officer and member of staff were allegedly attacked by a man carrying a bladed weapon at Edinburgh Waverley train station on Monday.

The man was arrested for assault, using homophobic language and being in possession of a bladed article following the incident.

He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in connection with the alleged offences. It is not known if the police officer or staff member sustained injuries during the attack.A British Transport Police statement read: "A male has been arrested at Edinburgh Waverley today for assaulting a member of staff and a police officer.
