A man has tragically died after being hit by a vehicle on the M6, following a crash involving two lorries and an Audi. Police closed a stretch of the M6 near Wigan on Sunday afternoon (January 12) following a collision.
Emergency services were called out to the M6 northbound at Hunger Hill, between junctions 27 for Standish and 28 for Leyland, shortly after 3pm.
Lancashire Police says it received reports of a collision involving a pedestrian, an Audi A8 and two Scania HGVs. The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of emergency services.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Lancashire Police says. Enquiries are ongoing and witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage, are being urged to come forward.
