Police investigating how a baby came to suffer serious injuries at a nursery in Oldham have issued an update. The seven-month-old girl was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Wednesday 21 September after becoming 'critically ill' at Kids Around The Clock nursery in Chadderton.

A woman in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and child cruelty but was later bailed with strict conditions.

GMP have now confirmed her bail is due to end on October 25. The M.E.N previously reported that the girl is understood to have suffered a life-changing injury to her brain following the incident - which has led to the nursery being closed.

The child’s parents are being kept updated and are being supported by the investigation team currently, police said. Extensive enquiries continue to be conducted to establish the circumstances of how the child’s condition deteriorated, with Oldham Council and Ofsted also involved in the investigations.
