Police are hunting unruly fans who set off pyrotechnics at Wednesday’s Livington FC match.Officers at Livingston are appealing for information after a number of pyrotechnics were set off during the Livingston and Motherwell match at Tony Macaroni stadium.Detective Sergeant Kenny Alexander said: “Luckily no one was injured during this incident however the consequences could have been much worse.

These devices were thrown onto the pitch, causing damage and the game had to be stopped for a short time.“Taking pyrotechnics into a football stadium is not only an offence, it is extremely dangerous.

It is disappointing and worrying that despite repeated warnings about the risk pyrotechnics bring, a small minority continue to smuggle them into matches.“Retrospective enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone at the game who witnessed the use of these pyrotechnics and can assist in our enquiries to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 2277 of 24 May.” Don't miss the latest news from the West Lothian Courier.
