Police break up illegal rave as hundreds defy social distancing to party in Tooting Bec

Hundreds of revellers are reported to be partying at a rave in south London in another night of chaos as police break up illegal parties across the UK.

Metropolitan Police say they are currently at Tooting Bec Common dispersing a large "unlicensed music event". According to reports on social media, there are up to 1,000 people gathered at the football pitches on the northern part of the common.

Residents say they can hear loud music and noise from speeding cars and revving engines. One wrote: "@MPS Thornton @metpoliceuk there is an illegal rave going on on the northern end of Tooting Bec common with 1000+ youths, loud music and many cars speeding and revving engines.
