He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Boris Johnson is set to face members of parliament in the House of Commons later today at Prime Ministers Questions. Labour leader Keir Starmer will go head-to-head at PMQs with Johnson where he could press him on a number of issues from the cost-of-living crisis to sleaze in parliament.

The rate of Consumer Prices Index inflation increased to 9 per cent in April from 7 per cent in March, the Office for National Statistics has said.It comes as the Commons was left in shock on Tuesday after an MP was arrested on suspicion of rape and sexual assault.He has now been released on bail pending further investigation by the Metropolitan Police in London.A statement from the Tory whips' office said: "The chief whip has asked that the MP concerned does not attend the Parliamentary estate while an investigation is ongoing."Until the conclusion of the investigation we will not be commenting further."
