Plans for step-free access at Greater Manchester train stations delayed

People who rely on step-free access to use trains in Greater Manchester have been left in limbo as to when the next stage of work will begin to make the region's railway stations accessible.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) applied for Government funding in September 2022 via the Access for All scheme to begin work on 11 priority train stations.

But more than a year later the region is still waiting for an update from the Department for Transport - which could now come after the autumn statement on November 22.

The setback leaves some disabled people and those who travel with items such as buggies unable to make use of the region's railway network at certain stations.
