Plans for a £4 million McDonald’s drive-thru in Larkhall will be voted on by councillors next week.Proposals for the new restaurant at Borland Drive will be considered by the planning committee on Tuesday (August 27), however council officials have recommended that they refuse the plans.So far, the development has received strong support from the community and no objections from statutory consultations have been raised, with 76 per cent of respondents backing the plans and 538 supportive comments being made, but planning officials wish to knock back the plans.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Despite our efforts to address their concerns, which led to the withdrawal of our initial application in December 2023, it is disheartening to see the recommendation for refusal, especially given the overwhelming community support.“However, we remain confident that the strong planning case we have presented, combined with overwhelming public backing, will allow a new McDonald’s restaurant to open in Larkhall.
