A pilot and his wife killed in a horror helicopter crash were on their way to lunch with their children when they died. Andrew Hamish Davidson, and his wife, Lin, were taking three children for a meal at a popular restaurant in Kekerengu when the incident happened around 12.40pm on Tuesday.
The aircraft spiralled out of control and crashed on a beach near the Kekerengu River in northeastern New Zealand. The couple's two young children and a third child were pulled out of the wreckage alive but were seriously injured.
A man who helped rescue the children said the girl kept asking him: "Where's my mummy, is my mummy alright?" He told the girl her mum was "alright" even though he knew that was not true.
