The RSPCA described the incident in Stockport as a 'deliberate attack on a defenceless bird'. An animal inspector was forced to the put the female pigeon down after a member of the public found it in an extremely distressed state in Elisabeth Gardens in Reddish.
Its feathers were stuck to the concrete and some were coming off and its legs were stuck together. RSPCA inspector Demi Hodby described the attack as 'one of the most callous acts of cruelty I have come across'.
