Dan has a friendly rivalry with fellow journalist Piers, 56, stemming from when they both hosted breakfast shows, with the pair regularly exchanging barbs on social media.
After this dance off against AJ Odudu, he tweeted: "Well… what a ride! "#Strictly has been a truly wonderful experience for me.
