Derek sadly passed away in January at 56 years old after a four-year battle with long Covid. A recent documentary showed the final year of Derek's life and revealed the struggles faced by Kate and their two children as they tried to get the care Derek needed.
During the four years, Kate and Derek received the help of multiple carers, which cost a whopping £16,000.This cost has now left Kate in debt, something she discussed in the documentary Derek's Story, which aired on Tuesday (26 March).
During the last four years, Kate has been hit with a number of cruel comments as she opened up about the difficulties of caring for Derek.
