But Charlotte Hawkins began the show solo, explaining to viewers that the duo would be joining her from 6:30am, with some viewers voicing disappointment as they had tuned in especially for Piers' return.
Charlotte also revealed Piers had arrived late as Susanna was ready to go but Piers had not even got to the studio three minutes before he was due to go live.
Both the presenters have taken some well-needed time off in recent weeks, after departing the show in July. But viewers are set to be thrown straight back in at the deep end as Piers and Susanna will be interviewing Piers Corbyn, Jeremy Corbyn's brother.
