Pierce Brosnan could be hit with jail time after allegedly walking into dangerous protected hot springs while visiting Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming.The former James Bond actor, 70, is accused of venturing off the designated path amid attempts to get a closer look at the Mammoth Terraces hot spring.
CNN reports that Pierce has been cited for "foot travel in a thermal area" and "violating closures and use limits" on 1 November, with a court date set for January 23.
Venturing off the designated paths is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. OK! has contacted representatives for Pierce Brosnan.The thermal areas of Yellowstone, which include its famous geysers, hot springs, and gas vents, can be incredibly dangerous with at least 22 deaths reported since the 1800s.The Yellowstone website advises visitors: "Stay on boardwalks and trails in thermal areas, "Hot springs have injured or killed more people in Yellowstone than any other natural feature.
Keep your children close and don’t let them run." In 2015, one visitor is believed to have dissolved in acidic water after entering the Norris Geyser Basin.
