Peter Crouch jokes over 'suspicions' of Manchester United players who contacted Erik ten Hag on WhatsApp

Peter Crouch joked about the suspicions of players who contacting Erik ten Hag to wish him well on arrival as Manchester United manager.

Ten Hag was introduced to the media on Monday after being officially announced as the next boss of United last month. The Dutchman has signed a three-year deal which has an option for the Reds to extend his contract should they wish to.

Since arriving at Old Trafford, Ten Hag has revealed that a number of United players have already reached out to him over WhatsApp, welcoming him to the club.

This comes as the former Ajax man is set to make wholesale changes to the squad in the summer after a disappointing campaign. "I know it’s a bit of a ‘whodunnit’ again, but I’ve got my suspicions…I had a few people say to me it was either [Harry] Maguire or Scott McTominay," he explained. "I just thought back to my day when a new manager came in and you didn’t have any correspondence whatsoever, apart from the first training session when you all came in, he’d give a speech and you all shook hands," Crouch added. "The ones who have messaged him, you feel they have got a one-up on the ones who haven’t.
