Deadline has launched the streaming site for Sound & Screen: Television, it’s live-music showcase featuring the musicians and their scores behind this year’s buzziest small-screen series and movies.

The latest edition of Deadline’s Sound & Screen Television gets underway Tuesday, when we will shine a spotlight on the musicians and their scores for some of this year’s most striking TV offerings. We know how integral music is when it comes to creating the mood of a project, and that’s why we’re delighted to be back in UCLA’s Royce Hall where we can put the music and its composers front and center — with the help of a 50-piece orchestra and panel conversations with the artists behind the work.

Jazz Tangcay Artisans EditorEverything about season 4 of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” was bigger, from the sets to the drama and, of course, the music.Returning songwriters Tom Mizer and Curtis Moore were tasked with creating a pastiche of sounds, including calypso, period-appropriate pop, a Broadway tune and several striptease numbers.The two worked with the show’s music supervisor Robin Urdang to soundtrack Midge’s (Rachel Brosnahan) career pivot, trading Greenwich Village coffeehouses for a Manhattan burlesque club.As Urdang explains: “We built upon the musical palette of the show using numerous hidden gems such as ‘Femininity’ from ‘Oh, Captain’ in the final dance sequence at the burlesque club.”In an extension of how the show uses music, Urdang says they also created Mandarin-language versions of American standards to use in the Button Club’s jukebox, along with original songs written by Mizer and Moore for the wedding of closeted singer Shy Baldwin.

Deadline’s Sound & Screen, a showcase of television’s most moving and lauded original music from some of the industry’s top-most talent, has lifted the baton for its second edition tonight live and in person at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

Sound & Screen, Deadline’s inaugural live concert showcasing the composers, music supervisors and songwriters behind the music of television’s buzziest shows, has set the lineup for its in-person event May 5 at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
