Syd Barrett is to be the subject of a new documentary titled Have You Got It Yet? The Story of Syd Barrett And Pink Floyd.According to Deadline, the upcoming film was co-directed by Roddy Bogawa and the late graphic designer Storm Thorgerson. The latter was the co-founder of Hipgnosis, the London-based firm that specialised in creating album cover art for rock acts.The company made the iconic artwork for Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ (1973), ‘Wish You Were Here’ (1975) and more.

Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown is set to turn his attention to films about Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett and The Mamas & The Papas‘ Cass Elliot.Peter Jaysen owns the company, Veritas Entertainment, that was involved in securing the rights to Dylan’s musical archive and life story for the Timothée Chalamet-starring biopic. In an appearance on the The Town With Matthew Belloni, he revealed that more big-name projects were in motion.“Due to our involvement with Bob doing A Complete Unknown, we’ve been fortunate enough that right now we’re working on, with Wash Westmoreland, the great writer-director, a Syd Barrett movie, one of the founders of Pink Floyd,” he confirmed.“We have had multiple Zooms with the estate of Mama Cass Elliot and met with her daughter, Owen, and are close to acquiring the rights to her book, My Mama Cass.”Jaysen didn’t mention release dates for either biopic nor give any timelines for their production.Barrett founded Pink Floyd in 1965 as their frontman and principal songwriter before leaving in 1968 over issues with his drug use and mental health.

Pink Floyd is in talks to sell the rights to their recorded music catalog, and are seeking at least $500 million,which would be one of the largest music sales in history.The legendary rock band have released 15 studio albums between 1967 and 2014, which includes three of the most heralded and best-selling albums rock albums of all time: The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975) and The Wall (1979).No matter the total money package offered, getting the members of the band to agree is expected to be a challenge, considering its two main songwriters, Roger Waters and David Gilmour, have been at odds for decades.
