K.J. Yossman ITV’s head of drama, Polly Hill, head of entertainment, Katie Rawcliffe, and head of factual entertainment, Sue Murphy, emphasized their desire for live, appointment viewing content during a panel discussion Wednesday at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

ITV is set to shed light on a critical issue with Queen Camilla at the forefront in the new documentary, Her Majesty The Queen: Behind Closed Doors, airing later in 2024.The network has been granted unprecedented access to cover Camilla's longstanding efforts to combat domestic abuse, and the final result will feature private interactions with survivors which have never been public until now.The Queen will be seen hosting round-tables with teenagers, celebrating International Women's Day at Buckingham Palace, and meeting survivors who, if they hadn't found refuge, could have lost their lives.The documentary will also delve into why abusers act as they do, and how to break the cycle of abuse. Sue Murphy, head of factual programmes at ITV, expressed the channel's pride in producing this impactful documentary, stating: "ITV is proud to be making this documentary with Her Majesty the Queen about this hugely important subject." Sue hopes that by sharing these stories, the film will trigger societal change, asserting: "We hope the film will raise awareness and inspire change in our society." The powerful 90-minute film will weave personal testimonies with the narratives of those who've lost family to domestic violence and individuals striving to halt the abuse, ensuring their voices echo throughout.

Naman Ramachandran Former “Love Island” presenter Laura Whitmore is tackling some controversial issues in her new show for U.K. streamer ITVX. The three-part series “Laura Whitmore Investigates” sees Whitmore travel within the U.K., Europe and the U.S. In one episode, Whitmore investigates toxic masculinity with a focus on the subculture of involuntary celibates, or incels, a male-dominated, misogynistic online world where alienated males who struggle to engage with women share their anti-female mindsets, developing communities around their resentment.  Another episode explores how changing attitudes to sex in Britain have seen BDSM become a multi-billion industry with more and more people experimenting, particularly with the act of choking during sex. The episode examines the influence of pornography as well as looking into the rise of the so-called “50 Shades” defense, whereby men accused of murdering their sexual partner claim the death was caused by rough sex that went wrong.
