7 stars Atletico Madrid sold to Premier League proving they're go-to place for players
Atletico Madrid are set to host Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday night. The Spanish champions have built a reputation in the past for being the go-to place for Premier League clubs to do their shopping during the transfer windows.A host of current and past stars of the league have been signed from Atletico, including former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres and Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero. Therefore, here are seven of the most impressive stars sold to the Premier League by Atletico in the past.Belgian centre back Toby Alderweireld joined Atletico in 2013 after spending nine years with Ajax after joining their famous youth academy aged 15.Alderweireld made 22 appearances for Atletico as they won the league in his first season in Spain but was unable to establish himself as a regular starter. He was loaned to the Premier League the following year, starring for Southampton as they qualified for the Europa League, earning him a permanent move to Tottenham Hotspur.Across his six years with Spurs, the Belgian international made over 200 appearances and was part of a side which reached the final of the Champions League in 2019.Despite spending just one season with Atletico's first team, Rodri did spend six years in the club's academy before his spell with Villarreal.Having returned to Madrid in 2018, the midfielder's performances that season resulted in Manchester City paying over £50million to sign him a year later. He has since gone on to win a league title and two League Cups with City, becoming an integral member of Pep Guardiola's side and is capable of the occasional long-range screamer.David de Gea was just 20 when he left

Sergio Aguero doesn't think he can sprint again and says heart "doesn't work properly"
Sergio Aguero has revealed he doesn't think he'll ever be able to sprint again only a few months after having to retire from football due to a heart condition. The former Manchester City and Barcelona striker says he's afraid his heart "doesn't work properly" having being diagnosed with a cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) last year.Speaking about his health on a Twitch stream this week, the 33-year-old said: "If I try to play football now, I run out of breath."Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be able to sprint again. I just feel like my heart doesn't work properly."Aguero first realised something was wrong after experiencing chest pains and breathing issues during the first-half of Barcelona's 1-1 home draw with Alaves back in October. He fell to the turf clutching his chest and was treated for several minutes before eventually walking off and being taken to hospital. The Argentine said he knew the problem was serious when he was "left in a small room alone with monitors" while doctors ran numerous tests on him."When it happened, I thought it was nothing and that I was going to be fine, but when I arrived in the hospital and they left me in a small room alone with a lot of monitors around me.Where does Sergio Aguero rank in terms of the greatest striker in Premier League history? Let us know what you think in the comments section..."I realised something was bad.

Rio Ferdinand claims Pep Guardiola is holding his "middle finger up" to Premier League
Rio Ferdinand claims Pep Guardiola is 'holding his middle finger up' to all his Premier League doubters as Manchester City continue to dominate. The Spaniard's side currently find themselves comfortably atop the Premier League's standings, nine points clear of nearest challengers Liverpool, having only played one game more.Since losing at home to Crystal Palace in late October, City have won 14 of their 15 league matches, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw at Southampton.Going into the season, many questioned whether Guardiola's team would be able to retain the Premier League title, especially given their lack of a recognised striker.Sergio Aguero departed for Barcelona last summer and City failed in their well-documented pursuit of Tottenham's Harry Kane, which led to many fearing the Sky Blues wouldn't have enough in attack. However, City have managed to hit a league-high 61 goals so far this season, the same amount as Liverpool, as their efforts have been spread around the team.Given their sheer dominance, Ferdinand believes Guardiola has silenced his doubters and essentially "put his middle finger up" to the rest of the Premier League. Can anyone stop Manchester City from winning the Premier League title again this season? Give us your thoughts in the comments section. “Points-wise it’s not over, but I just believe that City look too comfortable in their games," the former Manchester United defender admitted in the latest episode of Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE. "City look like they're in total control all the time."There's no topsy-turvey games or moments where you go 'oh my god they're on the ropes they're going to get beat here'.
