Naman Ramachandran The BFI London Film Festival’s annual Works-in-Progress showcase, now in its third edition, will present nine new feature films and documentaries by U.K.-based filmmakers. The showcase, which is part of the festival’s U.K. Talent Days focus, will be an in-person event on Oct. 8 screening extracts from each project introduced by their producer to an invited audience of international buyers and festival programmers. The projects are either in production or post-production. Clips will also be available online via a secure platform to a wider pool of invited international industry professionals. The annual Buyers & Sellers event returns as an in-person fixture at which international sales agents can meet with U.K. buyers, and NETWORK@LFF will host masterclasses and events for 12 U.K.-based writers, directors and producers to interact with international filmmakers and industry executives at the festival.

Leo Barraclough International Features Editor Munich-based sales agency Global Screen has acquired romantic drama “Falling Into Place” for worldwide theatrical distribution. The English-language film is written and directed by Aylin Tezel, one of Germany’s leading young actors, and stars Tezel (“7500”) and Chris Fulton (“Bridgerton”). The directorial debut is set in Scotland on the Isle of Skye and in London. It is an honest and poetic portrait of today’s 30-somethings caught between the fear of commitment and the desire for self-improvement. Like all great love stories, it is not just about the love between two individuals, but also about the dreams and anxieties of a whole generation.

BBC horror series Red Rose has been praised and compared to Black Mirror in early reactions.Created by Michael and Paul Clarkson, whose previous credits include shows The Haunting Of Bly Manor and Amazon’s The Wheel Of Time, Red Rose is a British horror drama about a group of teens in Bolton and a mysterious, controlling app with insidious intentions.The show’s cast features a wealth of newcomers, including Amelia Clarkson, Isis Hainsworth, Natalie Blair, Ellis Howard, Ali Khan, Ashna Rabheru, Adam Nagaitis, Natalie Gavin, Samuel Anderson and Harry Redding.All eight episodes of the show were released on BBC iPlayer on Monday (August 15), with early reactions comparing the technological nightmare to Black Mirror.One viewer wrote: “A few episodes into Red Rose and it’s VERY good. Naman Ramachandran “Sex Education” producer Eleven has revealed a cast of rising stars for upcoming BBC and Netflix horror series “Red Rose.”Created by the Clarkson Twins – Michael and Paul (“See,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor”), the eight-part series explores the relationship between teenagers and their online lives. Set over a long hot summer following high school, the teens’ friendships are infiltrated by the Red Rose app, which blooms on their smartphones, threatening them with dangerous consequences if they don’t meet its demands.

James Corden is set to make his UK TV return after quitting The Late Late Show in a new series based on ‘a relationship drama but also a whodunit. ’The Gavin and Stacey actor, 43, announced last month that the last instalment of his American talk show would come to an end next year, as he plans to move back to the UK after spending nearly a decade in the US with his family. After much speculation on his next UK project, with some fans convinced of a Gavin and Stacey reboot and others concerned about him appearing in Doctor Who, James will actually be starring in Jez Butterworth’s Mammals, which began filming last year.

There will be no third season of Netflix’s space drama Another Life, star Katee Sackhoff revealed on Twitter Monday. The news, which is not surprising, comes four months after the release of Season 2 on Oct. 14.
