Joe Otterson TV Reporter Hulu has ordered an eight-episode limited series based on the Rebecca Godfrey novel “Under the Bridge,” Variety has learned. Quinn Shephard is adapting the book for the screen and will serve as an executive producer. Samir Mehta and Liz Tigelaar will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers, with Tigelaar executive producing under her Best Day Ever banner. Stacey Silverman of Best Day Ever will also executive produce along with Godfrey. Geeta Patel serves as director and executive producer. ABC Signature will produce, with Best Day Ever currently under an overall deal at the studio. Per the official description of the series from Hulu, the story follows “the 1997 true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk who went to join friends at a party and never returned home. Godfrey takes us into the hidden world of the seven teenage girls and a boy accused of the savage murder, revealing startling truths about the unlikely killer.”

The first two episodes, released on April 17, show the timeline of events leading up to Virk’s death and the investigation that took place. The show, created by Quinn Shephard, tells the story of the events that unfolded through the lens of Godfrey (Riley Keough), a journalist who grew up in Victoria and was working on a novel about teenage girls in her hometown when she found out about the murder, and Cam Bentland (Lily Gladstone), a local police officer who investigated and solved the case.

Under the Bridge, then you know she gives a harrowing performance as Cam Bentland, a no-frills cop in Victoria, British Columbia, with an emotionally charged past. As a law enforcement officer who takes it upon herself to investigate the death of 14-year-old Reena Virk, it's a mentally draining role that requires a certain kind of headspace—one that I imagine any psychologist would urge their client not to wade in for extended periods of time.For better or worse then, Gladstone got a crash course in compartmentalizing her Under the Bridge filming experience when she for the world premiere of Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival last May.

All three had already been targeted to bow on the streamer.
