A lot of hype surrounded the debut of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” on Prime Video. The series is reportedly the most expensive in history (when you include the cost of the rights and all that), and it’s a new story set in the world of Tolkien’s classic fantasy series.

After five years in development, “Silk: Spider Society” is no more.  Variety reports that Amazon has scrapped plans for the live-action series entirely after the show already received a massive writers’ room overhaul in February. It’s a fate Spidey-fans shouldn’t be surprised by.

We are fully in the middle of TV Upfronts. And what that means, if you’re not already aware, is studios unveil what they’re working on and what series are getting renewed.

Comic book universes can venture far from their core storylines in a bid to attract more viewers (*cough* Marvel) despite producing content that grows increasingly less relevant.  Creators expect an audience to continually binge on the newest adaptation or sequel to get the slightest morsel of a new character or narrative twist that may or may not ever materialize later on. Thankfully “The Boys” showrunner Eric Kripke is well aware of that when talking about the upcoming season of the hit series.

In this week’s episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo gets swept up in the whirlwind romance at the heart of “The Idea of You” with writer/director Michael Showalter (“The Big Sick,” “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” “Wet Hot American Summer”). The movie is based on the book of the same name and follows a forty-year-old woman reeling from a divorce who stumbles into a romance with a twenty-something singer from the world’s biggest boy band.

There’s no premiere date yet.This won’t be Kelce’s first TV gig; he starred in the reality dating show “Catching Kelce” (2016) for USA Network and signed with CAA last spring with an eye toward more TV work.Kelce was reportedly in talks to host “a major new music competition series” for one of the networks but the deal never came to fruition.His deal with Prime Video is to host 20 episodes of “Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” which is a reboot of the old Fox series “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” hosted by Jeff Foxworthy, which aired from 2007 to 2009 and again in 2015.

Prime Video’s “Fallout” is here. Now streaming, “Fallout” is similar to HBO’s Emmy-winning “The Last Of Us” in the sense that it’s also a dystopian series based on a popular video game. Aside from the inevitable comparisons, “Fallout” is different enough to stand on its own.

Built on a wearying cheerful optimism/cruel fatalism dichotomy—contrasting chords that aren’t all that engaging or novel to begin with but repeated ad nauseum regardless—it’s astonishing just how quickly the post-apocalyptic sci-fi series, “Fallout,” wears out its welcome. Startlingly glib, one-note, and yet self-assured in its vacant design, the series reveals its shallow hand very early.

Beth Grant (“No Country For Old Men,” “Donnie Darko”), Damon Herriman (“Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”, “Justified”), Maxwell Jenkins (“Arcadian,” “Lost In Space”) and Jolene Purdy (“The White Lotus,” “Orange Is The New Black”) have all joined the show in series regular roles. Aside from Bacon, they join previously announced cast member Jennifer Nettles.
