Shaun Wallace addresses ‘Dark Destroyer’ not being appropriate nickname ‘I’m proud of it’
The Chase host Bradley Walsh named Shaun Wallace, 61, the Dark Destroyer when he joined the show back in 2009. His nickname on the show has been frowned upon in previous times, most recently by lawyer Paula Rhone-Adrien on Lorraine last year. In a conversation about racism, she revealed she had banned her child from watching the show as he was "the only Chaser defined by the colour of his skin".Shaun however has said he has no problem with being referred to by the term."For me I have no issues with the term Dark Destroyer," he told Express.co.uk."I'm dark, I'm proud, I'm black and I destroy people will my intellect."The quizmaster echoed these words in response to a Twitter user last year who backed Paula's opinion.Gary Barlow bids farewell to daughter amid big family updateNav commented: "@lorraine Have been saying for ages, why does @ITVChase's @TheShaunWallace have to be the only Chaser defined by their skin colour."None of the others are - this needs to change.
