Bojack Horseman creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg is returning to the streamer with a brand new animated comedy.

Joe Otterson TV Reporter The team behind “BoJack Horseman” is reuniting for a new adult animated series at Netflix, Variety has learned. “BoJack” creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company, and animation house ShadowMachine are back together for the series “Long Story Short.” The news comes on the 10th anniversary of the premiere of “BoJack” on Netflix. “It is legitimately a thrill and an honor to be back doing what I love most: drafting enthusiastic pull quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications.

Raphael Bob-Waksberg, creator of Netflix’s long-running series BoJack Horseman, is back at the streamer with another animated comedy, Long Story Short.

The creators of series including Tuca & Bertie and Gordita Chronicles, which both were axed at Warner Bros Discovery, have taken the conglomerate to task for the recent moves.

Adult Swim has canceled Tuca & Bertie, the toon series starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, after two seasons, according to series creator Lisa Hanawalt. The cable net had rescued the show following its 2019 cancellation by Netflix after one season.

Michaela Zee editor Although “Tuca & Bertie” navigates difficult subjects such as mental health and sexual assault, creator Lisa Hanawalt isn’t trying “to be overtly political or topical” with her series.  “I’m just telling stories from my point of view — things that affect me and my friends, and the things we’ve experienced,” she said.  The adult animated sitcom revolves around best friends Tuca Toucan (Tiffany Haddish) and Roberta “Bertie” Songthrush (Ali Wong), two anthropomorphic bird women living in the fantastical city known as Bird Town. In the recently completed third season on Adult Swim, the series highlighted two topics seldom covered on screen: menstruation and reproductive health. “So many of the women I know suffer from endometriosis, from PCOS [polycystic ovary syndrome], from cysts,” Hanawalt said. “It’s such a huge problem, and it’s surprisingly difficult to diagnose.” 

The animated series Tuca & Bertie, starring Ali Wong and Tiffany Haddish, will return to Adult Swim for Season 3.

Adult Swim has slotted Sunday, June 13 for the Season 2 premiere of animated series Tuca & Bertie, featuring the voices of Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong as the title characters.
