The Wonder Years has found its new Kevin Arnold. Elisha “EJ” Williams has been tapped to star as Dean, the new Kevin in ABC’s The Wonder Years single-camera comedy reboot pilot, from Dave exec producer Saladin Patterson, Fred Savage and Empire co-creator Lee Daniels.

Set between the late 1960s and early 1970s, the series is told from the perspective of Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) during his adult years.Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Jason Hervey, Olivia d’Abo, Danica McKellar and Josh Saviano also starred on the series.

The original show was based around a white middle-class family in a typical American suburban home.The original Wonder Years co-creator, Neal Marlens, is set to act as a consultant on the show, while Fred Savage, who played the role of Kevin Arnold in the show, will direct the pilot episode of the show.Daniels is set to executive produce the show alongside Saladin K.

Film and television creator Lee Daniels, 60, is reviving The Wonder Years with ABC and re-creating the series with an all-black cast, it was reported Wednesday.A revival of the late eighties/early nineties prime time comedy-drama was given 'a pilot production commitment' from the network, according to Deadline.The original series also aired on ABC.Fred Savage, who starred in the show as teenager Kevin Arnold, will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer on the reimagined project.
