TWICE member Jihyo is set to contribute a song to the soundtrack of the ongoing coming-of-age K-drama Twenty Five Twenty One. Studio MaumC, the production company in charge of the Twenty Five Twenty One soundtrack, announced today (March 4) that the TWICE vocalist would be releasing a new ballad track titled ‘Stardust Love Song’ over the weekend on March 6, per Korea JoongAng Daily.Notably, ‘Stardust Love Song’ will be Jihyo’s first-ever solo song, as well as her first time contributing to a soundtrack of a TV series. Other musicians that have lent their voices to the soundtrack include NCT’s Taeil, BIBI, SEVENTEEN’s DK and more.A snippet of ‘Stardust Love Song’ had been teased during the most recent episode of Twenty Five Twenty One, which premiered on both South Korean cable network tvN and Netflix on February 27.Twenty Five Twenty One, which airs every Saturday and Sunday, tells the story of five characters as they navigate adulthood, romance and their dreams from 1998 to 2021.

Day6 keyboardist and vocalist Wonpil has announced his upcoming military enlistment.Wonpil had hosted a V Live broadcast on February 23, where he personally shared the details of his impending enlistment. The singer revealed that he had chosen to apply to the Navy as it was the next available option, as he wanted to line up his service to his fellow Day6 members.“I will be enlisting on March 28,” he said during the broadcast, as translated by Soompi. “Since [Day6 members Young K] and Dowoon all already enlisted, a part of me kind of wanted to enlist early too.”The singer will be the final Day6 member to enlist for South Korea’s mandatory military service.

JYP Entertainment‘s new girl group NMIXX have made their debut with a head-spinning music video for ‘O.O’.The visual opens at a scene of a shipwreck, as an ominous fog clears to reveal the members of the new girl group. They launch into a fierce performance of the new track, entering a number of whimsical new worlds.“Eyes wide open like ‘OO’ / Watch out, baila baila baila / Watch it, how nice how nice,” they sing on the chorus, while performing the song’s intricate choreography.

ITZY have shown their love for US figure skater Alysa Liu after she performed a routine to their song ‘Loco’ at the Olympic figure skating exhibition gala.Over the weekend on February 20, the 16-year-old American skater performed an energetic programme to the girl group’s latest single ‘Loco’ at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing. For her routine, Liu also notably incorporated moves from the song’s original choreography.The American athlete had been invited to perform at the Gala, which is usually reserved for medalists, despite placing seventh in the women’s figure skating event at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

JYP Entertainment‘s upcoming girl group NMIXX have delayed debut showcase performance after a member was diagnosed with COVID-19.Earlier today (February 18), the label announced in a statement that the girl group’s forthcoming debut showcase after NMIXX member Bae was tested positive for COVID-19. The showcase was originally set to be held on February 22 to coincide with the release of NMIXX’s debut single album ‘Ad Mare’, but will now be held on March 1.JYP Entertainment shared that Bae had begun experiencing a sore throat on the evening of February 16, after which the entire group tested themselves using self-test kits.

JYP Entertainment has announced that TWICE’s North American tour will no longer include meet-and-greet events.On February 15, the agency said in a statement through the group’s fan community page that meet-and-greet events for the US leg of the group’s ‘III’ world tour, which kicked off in Los Angeles on the same day, have been cancelled. The company cited the “severity” of the COVID-19 pandemic for its decision to axe the events.“We originally planned promotional and a wide variety of opportunities for meet-and-greets,” JYP said.

JYP Entertainment has expanded its existing partnership with US-based label Republic Records.According to a report by Billboard, the South Korean company has opted to expand its existing strategic partnership with Republic Records, which is owned by Universal Music Group. The two companies first started the partnership in 2020, where they foucsed on the international expansion of girl group TWICE.JYP Entertainment and Republic Records’ partnership will now extend to include two more of the K-pop giant’s acts – namely Stray Kids and ITZY – in their plan for promotions outside of South Korea.Both groups will also be receiving support from Republic Records’ subsidiary independent label Imperial, which had previously helped to launch and market TWICE’s recent records since the JYP-Republic partnership had launched.“We are beyond delighted to move forward with Republic Records, the most outstanding label in the United States, in developing the major artist roster of the two companies’ hereafter, starting with the successful kickoff TWICE has brought,” JYP Entertainment CEO Jimmy Jeong told Billboard of the expansion.“We have absolute confidence that, together, we will lead the rapidly changing music industry from both in and out, alongside our prominent artists’ creations,” Jeong added.

Stray Kids members Han and Seungmin have unveiled their cover of Day6‘s ‘Zombie’.The new rendition of the Day6 song was uploaded to Stray Kids’ official YouTube channel yesterday (February 9), marking the latest addition to the eight-piece’s ongoing series of song covers, called ‘SKZ-RECORD’. ‘Zombie’ was the title track of Day6’s 2020 ‘The Book Of Us: Demon’ record.The duo largely stay faithful to the original, with the pair harmonising on the chorus: “I feel like I became a zombie / Not alive, but I’m still walkin’ / When the sunrise is upon me / I’ll be waiting for the day to pass by, oh why?”Past covers for he ‘SKZ-RECORD’ series include I.N’s rendition of HuhGak’s 2013 single ‘Memory Of Your Scent’, Seungmin’s cover of ‘Love Again’ originally by EXO‘s Baekhyun and more.The JYP Entertainment boyband’s last comeback was their holiday special single album ‘Christmas EveL’ released in November 2021, which includes a title track of the same name and a new B-side track ’24 to 25′.

Stray Kids member Felix will have a limited participation in the group’s upcoming concert following a recent back injury.Earlier today (February 9), JYP Entertainment announced in a V Live post that Felix was recently diagnosed with an intervertebral disk herniation, following a detailed check-up with his doctor after experiencing back pain.JYP Entertainment said that there will be “no effect on his everyday activities”, but said that doctors have “recommended that he avoid postures and activities that pressure his waist”, as translated by Soompi.As such, Felix’s performances during the group’s upcoming show, ‘SKZ’S CHOCOLATE FACTORY’, will be “limited”. The rapper will return to fully participating in performances after “doctors confirm that his back has fully recovered.”“We apologize for having to share the sudden news and causing concern to all STAY who have been looking forward to seeing Felix perform,” JYP Entertainment added.

Day6 member Wonpil has made his solo debut with the full-length album ‘Pilmography’.The South Korean musician released the 10-track ‘Pilmography’ at 6pm KST today (February 7), alongside a music video for title track ‘Voiceless’. In a pre-recorded press event celebrating the release, Wonpil spoke about how he hoped the album would  “comfort and heal people, especially among times of trouble”, per Korea Herald.“The title of my album ‘Pilmography’ is a [combined] term of my name and the term filmography, and I gave a little tweak by adding the letter ‘P’ from my name,” he said, adding that the record will be like the filmography of his life so far.However, plans for Wonpil to promote the album have been postponed as the singer was recently in close contact with a COVID-19 positive case.

Stray Kids’ leader Bang Chan has revealed that Day6 member Young K gave him a lot of feedback while they were trainees.In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, the K-pop opened up about his journey as a musician. While Bang Chan emphasised that he did not like “relying” on others, he also shared that he had looked to older trainees at JYP Entertainment for advice as he worked on songs as a trainee.“My next-room neighbor was [Day6’s] Young K, Brian hyung, and sometimes I’d let him listen to what I wrote,” recounted the Stray Kids’ leader, who had joined the agency’s trainee programme at age 13. “He’d give me good feedback.

JYP Entertainment‘s new girl group NMIXX have announced details for their forthcoming debut.A cryptic new teaser poster was released yesterday (February 2), featuring silhouettes of the new group’s seven members as a spotlight moves over each of them. The poster also reveals that NMIXX’s debut single would be titled ‘AD MARE’, along with a release date of February 22 at 6pm KST.Notably, NMIXX’s name was first unveiled just last week with an announcement teaser, after its hotly-anticipated line-up was finalised in November last year, comprising of Kyujin, Jiwoo, BAE, Jinni, Sullyoon, Haewon and Lily.NMIXX, previously referred to as JYPn, was first announced last July when the agency shared that it would be releasing a “blind package” for the group, which had featured their upcoming debut single on a limited-edition CD, a photo book, poster, premium membership card and more.The new all-female K-pop act will be the first girl group launched by JYP Entertainment since ITZY’s debut in 2019.

Stray Kids member Hyunjin has spoken about how he managed to regain his motivation as a performer.In a new interview with Dazed Korea, the K-pop idol shared that a recent live performance had rekindled his love for performing after spending the past two years in a pandemic-stricken world.“Because of COVID-19 and everything, we really didn’t have any opportunities to meet our fans on stage,” Hyunjin revealed, as translated by Soompi. “But at the end of last year, we finally had the opportunity to perform in front of a small number of fans.”“Since it was the first time in nearly two years that we took the stage in front of our fans [in person], it really recharged our energy, and I felt like I had rediscovered my reason for being on stage,” he added, adding that the performance remains a source of motivation for him.

GOT7‘s BamBam has spoken about how 2PM member Nichkhun laid the groundwork for other Thai K-pop idols to succeed.During a press conference for BamBam’s recently released sophomore mini-album ‘B’, the K-pop idol touch on his personal experience as a Thai national in the K-pop industry. The singer shared that he believed 2PM’s Nichkhun had allowed for him and other Thai-born idols to succeed in the industry.“I’ve been able to promote comfortably because [2PM’s] Nichkhun paved the way,” he said, as translated by Soompi.

TWICE’s Jeongyeon recently opened up about her brief stint as a barista during her hiatus from group activities.In an interview with Associated Press, Jeongyeon revealed that she’d briefly worked as a barista to help out a friend. TWICE have released their much-anticipated third studio album, ‘Formula Of Love: O+T=<3’.The 14-track record, which moved over 700,000 copies in pre-orders alone, according to JYP Entertainment, dropped alongside a music video for its lead single ‘Scientist’. The clip follows the girl group hard at work in the “TWICE Love Lab”.“The song says that love is not something you can calculate, study and try to find an answer to but is something you should follow with your heart,” Nayeon said, per Yonhap News Agency.
