One of the UK’s favourite hospital dramas bowed out of production last night, causing devastation among fans. In the final episode of Holby City, TV favourite Jac Naylor (played by Rosie Marcel) succumbed to her brain tumour and passed away in the hospital she called ‘home’. Jac’s former mentor Elliot Hope (Paul Bradley) failed to remove her tumour in a life-or-death operation.

After 23 years, it was the end of an era for fans and the stars of Holby City. The BBC One medical drama ended with an emotional final episode that celebrated the spirit of the NHS and featured a tragic death.

Viewers were left heartbroken as Holby City officially came to an end on Tuesday night with the dramatic death of a fan favourite. Jac Naylor, played by actress Rosie Marcel, tragically passed away after suffering a stroke shortly after life-saving tumour surgery. Surgeon Jac has been battling brain cancer on the show, and fans watched as she desperately tried to find someone to perform life-changing surgery on her after finding out she had less than six months to live.

Holby City fans have been waiting to hear more details about the much-anticipated final episode of the BBC show. In a new interview, Guy spoke about his sadness that the show was coming to an end, before explaining he’d requested some of Henrik’s belongings so that a part of his alter-ego would always be with him.

With Holby City drawing to a close, fans have been treated to various cameos including the return of Hari Dhillon as Michael Spence and John Michie's reprisal of his role as Guy Self.The latest to join the list of Holby City comebacks is Paul Bradley who returned to the hospital as Elliot Hope in Tuesday's episode (15 March). A firm favourite of fans, it's no surprise many of them went wild when he appeared on screen and flocked to social media to share their excitement. One wrote: "Welcome back Elliot a legendary character #HolbyCity @BBCHolbyCity," followed with heart eye emojis.
