Netflix chiefs have pulled four of Australian comedian Chris Lilley’s shows due to their inclusion of blackface or racially insensitive characters. Earlier this week, BBC and Netflix executives pulled British TV comedy Little Britain from online streaming platforms following the Black Lives Matter protests that have spread across the world since the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minnesota on 25 May.

NETFLIX has removed several of Chris Lilley's controversial shows from its platform that feature the N-word and blackface sketches – but viewers can still watch on BBC iPlayer. Despite both channels being in agreement over the removal of episodes of Little Britain from their libraries, differences of opinions are emerging about other shows.

The League of Gentlemen has been removed from Netflix in light of the show’s use of blackface.The League of Gentlemen, which began in 1999 and was created by Reece Shearsmith alongside Jeremy Dyson, Mark Gatiss and Steve Pemberton, remains on BBC iPlayer for now.Shearsmith, who is white, plays Papa Lazarou in the BBC series.
