Hosted by Dolly Parton alongside by co-hosts Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett, the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards was a the two-hour concert event of the year live streamed globally on Prime Video tonight from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Chris Willman Senior Music Writer and Chief Music Critic Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen tied for songwriter of the year of the BMI Country Music Awards, held Tuesday night at BMI’s building in Nashville. To commemorate the tie (which clearly had been communicated to the twin winners in advance), BMI cooked up another surprise: a climactic performance for the evening in which Wallen and Combs sat side by side and borrowed each other’s hits.

Lil Wayne has opened the 2023 MTV VMAs at New Jersey’s Prudential Center with the live premiere of his latest single ‘Kat Food’.The rapper kicked off the awards show by performing in front of a raised platform on the arena’s stage, flanked by female dancers dressed in white, as he aired the 2020 track ‘Uproar’.Midway through the song, he segued into ‘Kat Food’, walking through the crowd to the B-stage as he did so. The track was released on September 1 and was produced by Charlie Handsome, FNZ and Rogét Chahayed.Wayne is also due to perform as part of a special hip-hop performance celebrating the genre’s 50th anniversary later in the VMAs.

Jimmie Allen and Gabby Barrett, cohosts for this year’s Acadeny of Country Music Awards with Dolly Parton, revealed nominees for Entertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, New Female Artist of the Year, and New Male Artist of the Year on the ACM Awards Twitter this morning.
