Mike Wass Morgan Wallen remains the most popular country artist in contemporary music, as the Tennessee bad boy lands four songs on this year’s Hitmakers countdown. Leading the way is “I Had Some Help,” his chart-topping collaboration with Post Malone, followed by three songs from 2023’s seven-times platinum “One Thing at a Time” album: “Last Night” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me,” as well as “Cowgirls,” featuring co-writer Ernest. The common thread is the tight-knit team of collaborators who work on them.

Thania Garcia Big Loud Records and its Canada-based, Dallas Smith-founded imprint Local Hay Records have signed country singer Hailey Benedict. In addition to the record deal, Benedict has also signed a global publishing deal with Big Loud Publishing and Local Hay. “I’m ecstatic to begin this new chapter with such an incredibly creative and dedicated team that shares my vision for my songwriting, artistry, and career,” Benedict said on stage in Toronto.

William Earl Morgan Wallen and Taylor Swift were the big winners at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards, which broadcast live on multiple platforms Sunday night. Wallen led the winners list with 11, Swift was close behind with 10; Drake had five, Zach Bryan and SZA four, and 21 Savage, Bad Bunny, Beyonce and Miley Cyrus all scored three.

The Country Music Association announced the nominees for The 57th Annual CMA Awards, set to air live from Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m., EST. The show will be hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning.
