Ex-F1 star Nikita Mazepin and dad sanctioned by EU due to links to Vladimir Putin
Russia.Mazepin Sr has been added to the list after it emerged he met with Putin on 24 February - hours after Putin ordered the invasion."Mazepin, along with other 36 business people, met with President Putin and other members of the Russian government to discuss the impact of the course of action in the wake of Western sanctions," the EU said."The fact that he was invited to attend this meeting shows that he is a member of the closest circle of Vladimir Putin."And that he is supporting or implementing actions or policies which undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, as well as stability and security in Ukraine."Mazepin has also been added to the list of sanctions due to his racing career benefiting from his dad's money.The Russian was sacked by Haas after debuting in F1 last season, where he faced a difficult season.Mazepin failed to acquire only points during the first 21 races of the season - before he missed the season finale after testing positive for Covid.What do you think of the EU sanctioning Mazepin?
