Mercury Prize has announced the date for this year’s ceremony.The annual event is due to return in 2022 to hand out the prestigious Album Of The Year award, which will be chosen from a shortlist of 12 nominated records from across British and Irish music.Today (April 14) it’s been confirmed that the Mercury Prize show will take place at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London on Thursday, September 8. The live event is set to feature special performances from the nominated acts.BBC Music will be providing television and radio coverage of the ceremony.This year’s Mercury Prize shortlist will be revealed on Thursday, July 28.

By order of the Peaky Blinders, Universal Music is issuing a blood-red vinyl edition of the official soundtrack to the popular series, which just tied its own record for viewers in the Season 6 debut.

Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne has revealed that Radiohead‘s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood have contributed some new and original music to the upcoming sixth and final season of the show.The Birmingham period crime-noir drama will premiere its final season this weekend (Sunday February 27), and, as usual, fans are eager to hear what music will feature in the show.Alongside Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds‘ theme tune of ‘Red Right Hand’, the show has famously featured music by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, David Bowie, PJ Harvey, Iggy Pop, Royal Blood, Laura Marling, IDLES, Savages and Foals – as well as an original score by Anna Calvi on the last season.With Radiohead’s music having previously featured in key scenes, it has now been revealed that bandmates Yorke and Greenwood have penned new pieces for the upcoming series.“Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood contributed some original stuff,” director Anthony Bryne told NME. “I’m over the moon about all of that.

Peaky Blinders is set to premiere later this year.As reported by BBC News, Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby was adapted for the stage by the hit show’s creator Steven Knight alongside the Rambert dance company.The show is due to open at Birmingham Hippodrome on September 27, with London dates expected to follow before a wider UK tour in 2023.It’s said that The Redemption of Thomas Shelby will feature specially-commissioned music played by a live band.According to Rambert’s artistic director, Benoit Swan Pouffer, the “uplifting and inspiring” show theatre show will pick up the Peaky Blinders story in a post-World War One Birmingham.“It’s such an exciting opportunity as a choreographer to tell these stories and recreate these characters through dance,” the French choreographer explained.Pouffer will direct and choreograph the show, which he’s described as “something on a scale we’ve never done before”.Knight added: “This is dance for people who don’t usually watch dance and what I’ve written has been transformed into something startling by consummate dancers and choreographers.”[Peaky Blinders] has always had music and movement at its heart and now the beating heart of the show will be transferred to the stage”Helen Shute, CEO and executive producer of Rambert, said: “We’re incredibly honoured to be trusted by Steven Knight with his nationally beloved Peaky Blinders … We look forward to welcoming a new generation of audiences to theatres with a story that speaks to so many people.”Back in 2019, Rambert’s Peaky Blinders-inspired ballet performed at The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival in Digbeth.
