Coronation Street star Shelley King has teased an upcoming romance plot between her character Yasmeen Metcalfe and former homeless man Stu Carpenter. Now working at Speed Daal and living with Yasmeen, things are certainly on the up for Stu, who was instrumental in getting Corey Brent sent down for the murder of Seb Franklin.Earlier this month, it was revealed that Stu has a daughter, Bridget, who he hasn't spoken to for years.Yasmeen was left heartbroken to discover Stu isn't even aware he's now a granddad, and became determined to track Bridget down after all these years. Now things could be looking up, as actress Shelley exclusively hinted to Daily Star that she hopes Yasmeen will find love with the "gentle" Stu.Shelley appeared at the MEN Pride of Manchester Awards earlier this month alongside her co-stars Julia Goulding (Shona Platt) and Sair Khan (Alya Nazir) to present a gong to PC Simon Toft and PC Alicia Snowden for their extraordinary bravery. The officers were first on the scene at a medical centre where a man was armed with knives and a meat cleaver, keeping patients and staff trapped. When asked if she thinks romance is on the cards, Shelley told Daily Star at the ceremony: "I think possibly! I think that Yasmeen’s had enough of a hard journey through her relationship life with her husband and her son who died, and now she’s met this gentle man who’s also flawed."Yasmeen is a mender, she’s a fixer, and I think that’s very attractive to her. He’s gentle, he’s human, he’s cuddly - and Yasmeen wants to save him."So let’s see what happens as their relationship grows, because the scriptwriters also watch Bill [Fellows] and myself and see what we can give them.

Corrie’s Alya star teases 'unexpected' twist for her character after chat with bosses
Coronation Street star Sair Khan has promised a “really unexpected” direction for her character Alya Nazir. The star was appearing at the MEN Pride of Manchester awards last night (May 10) to present the award for Emergency Services, which went to PC Simon Toft and PC Alicia Snowden. The officers were first on the scene at the Stockport medical centre where one man armed with three kitchen knives and a meat cleaver was threatening to stab patients.Michael Brannigan had robbed a pharmacy and attacked a stranger just minutes earlier, while a doctor held a door shut and tried to reason with him.A desperate fight ensued between the officers and Brannigan, after he ripped Taser barbs out of his chest and lunged at the officers with a metal pole.Sair was presenting the award alongside her Corrie co-stars Shelley King - who plays her gran Yasmeen - and Julia Goulding, who stars as Shona Platt. She chatted exclusively to Daily Star while dazzling on the red carpet, and dished on her “dream storyline” finally coming true. She spilled: "Well my dream storyline, actually, I think it might just be about to happen! I had a chat with the producer last week and we’re taking things in a really different direction.“Something really unexpected happens and it changes Alya’s perspective on everything, so it’s a future that wasn’t expected but I’m really excited about it.”Alya has been at the forefront of some major storylines in recent years, including a money laundering scheme and helping her gran escape the clutches of Geoff Metcalfe’s abuse. And while it’s not confirmed what exactly the ‘different direction’ could be for her character, it’s sure to keep fans on the edge of their seats. There’s more - she also vowed Alya has a few “demons”
