People are being encouraged to keep their "eyes peeled" for two incredibly rare 50p coins that could be worth around £250 combined.

A coin enthusiast, who goes by the name Coin Collecting Wizard on social media, has identified these two specific designs from 2009 and 2023 as the "holy grails" of collectable coins.

In a TikTok video, he posed the question: "Have you ever noticed some 50 pence coins have designs on them?" He then revealed: "Well, there are two of them that sell for over £100." The first is the 2009 Kew Gardens 50p, featuring the famous Chinese Pagoda, which the Royal Mint recognises as one of the most "iconic" and "loved" coins.

The coin expert explained its value, saying: "This is an old 50 pence from 2009 and is the Kew Gardens 50p." He added: "Only 210,000 of these coins entered UK change and sells for £150." Some online listings even price this coin at £250, with others asking up to £300, reports the Mirror.
