Large numbers of people have flocked to areas of open water including at Salford Quays as temperatures continue to soar. But warnings have been issued about the dangers of going into the water, with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents reporting a 'spike' in fatalities over the past few days.
Ngapee Merenga, 19, died in the water at Salford Quays on Sunday. It is understood he had been swimming with friends from his football team when he disappeared under the water.
