Anyone who has picked up a pack of Haribo's classic blue Starmix has contributed to it becoming one of Britain’s favourite sweets.

More than 87 million bags are bought across the UK every year. For people who don't demolish an entire bag in one sitting, there's a handy trick circulating on social media to keep the sweets fresh that's taking many by surprise.

Rather than tearing the top open, videos on TikTok show a different method that has been present "all this time". Using the part that normally hooks the bags onto shop displays, simply tear from top to bottom in a straight line, but keep it attached.

When you're finished eating and want to save the rest, there's just one thing you need to do. Using the newly-torn strip, you simply tuck it back through the top hole and wrap it tight.
