People ditching heated airers for 'game-changing' alternative to dry clothes even faster

Those of us who don't have a tumble drier at home will know all too well the struggle of trying to dry laundry during the winter.The UK weather is often too unpredictable to hang clothes outside to dry, and hanging them up inside can result in an unpleasant damp smell - not to mention the amount of time it takes for things to fully dry off.

However, there are certain household gadgets that can help to make the process of drying clothes easier without racking up huge energy bills or taking hours at a time - and two of these have been put to the test.The Express reports that in order to find out which was better at drying clothes - a heated airer or a dehumidifier - one woman took to the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page.

Gemma Dawn said: “Hiya, heated airer or dehumidifier with standard airer. Not sure which one to invest in as costs roughly the same."Heated airers have been hugely popular in recent years, as they essentially act as a radiator and clothes horse at the same time.

And clothes can take a long time to dry properly indoors, especially if it's a humid environment. But when you use a dehumidifier, the air surrounding the wet clothes becomes less humid.This allows the moisture within the clothes to evaporate more quickly, resulting in shorter drying times.
