People are driving around roundabouts all wrong - this is what lane you are meant to be using

If you are a driver, you've probably encountered a situation where you've seen a car in the wrong lane on the roundabout - or have got in the wrong lane yourself.

It's tempting to beep someone if you see them making a mistake and trying to cross over to get in another lane, but it turns out that they might actually be in the right.

This confusion can be settled thanks to the trusted Highway Code - which has all the clear answers for anyone who is unsure.

The code states that, when taking the first exit to the left, unless there are signs or markings that indicate otherwise, you should signal left, approach in the left-hand lane, keep to the left of the roundabout and continue signalling left to leave.
