A pensioner has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in a bustling village centre. Emergency services descended on High Street in Uppermill, Saddleworth, following a collision at around 9.40am this morning (August 16).
The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance. An air ambulance had landed close to the scene following the crash, but the woman was taken to hospital by road.
High Street was closed by police while the scene was cleared. Greater Manchester Police says the driver remained at the scene. A woman in her 70s was assessed and treated at the scene by an ambulance crew, and air ambulance crew, and a consultant paramedic. "She was then taken to hospital by road."
