An elderly man has died following a house fire on a street in East Ayrshire. The alarm was raised shortly after 10.15pm on Wednesday, October 5 when officers were alerted to a blaze having taken hold at a property on Back Rogerton Crescent in the village of Auchinleck.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, rushed to the scene, but the 69-year-old man could not be saved.Firefighters were successful in eventually putting out the flames.
A joint probe has now been launched by both bodies into the distressing incident, which is currently being treated as 'unexplained'.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a fire at a property on Back Rogerton Crescent in Auchinleck shortly after 10.15pm on Wednesday, 5 October.“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
A 69-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.“The fire is being treated as unexplained but there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
