Irish actor Paul Mescal had fans in a spin after speaking Irish on the BAFTA's red carpet.The Normal People star, 27, who has reportedly called time on his romance with musician Phoebe Bridgers, was nominated for Leading Actor at the 76th edition of the awards for his portrayal of single father Calum in independent film, Aftersun.
Before the ceremony, he spoke to an interviewer for Irish language channel TG4, where he commended the amount of Irish talent being recognised at this year's BAFTAs.
Paul also joked that his Irish used to be much better in school, where he attended a Gaelscoil - an Irish language medium school - before eventually ending the interview in English as he joked: "I'm gonna give up on that now.
I did my best!" Fans were quick to comment on his 'sexy' language skills. "He makes Irish sound sexy! He's that talented," one wrote, with a heart-eyes emoji.
