hospital patient has died after a multi-drug resistant infection breakout in an intensive care unit. The unnamed patient contracted the pseudomonas aeruginosa bug at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is now carrying out a probe to try and establish where the deadly infection - which is commonly found alongside serious illnesses like ventilator-associated pneumonia, and different sepsis syndromes - came from.
The health board is also seeking to find out how the bug was able to spread between patients when staff are wearing PPE and being extra vigilant whilst working in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.
