A partially-sighted pensioner says he was left stranded at an airport after being stopped from boarding a Ryanair flight. Decorated SAS veteran Brian Denvir, 76, said a mix-up with the name on his boarding pass meant check-in staff refused to let him catch his flight from Cork to Manchester Airport.
Mr Denvir, of Bolton, goes by the name Brian, but his passport is under his Christian name Bernard. And he says the problems began when he noticed his boarding pass had been printed out in the name of Brian.
Because the names didn't match 'inconsiderate' staff stopped him from boarding, despite him producing a number of other forms of ID, he said.
It came after the retired haulage company boss, who has a second home in West Cork close to his daughter and her family, had already missed an earlier flight on Thursday, September 7, after arriving late to the airport due a fatal accident on the roads.
