Over 60% of teachers ‘happy to work’ over summer holidays, research finds

Six in 10 teachers are willing to give up their six week summer break to help struggling kids, it has been revealed. They want to help disadvantaged children who have had their schooling affected by the coronavirus pandemic to boost their grades.

Officials in Whitehall are working on summer camps because a survey found 61 per cent of teachers are willing to help support them.

Over 7,000 teachers participated in the poll which revealed the majority wanted to help their pupils "get back on track". Charity Teach First has called schools to be opened over the summer as long as social distancing measures allow it Thirty-two per cent of teachers said they would give up a week of their summer break while 29 per cent would give up more.
