Outlander's Lauren Lyle says Marsali and Fergus are heading for the 'darkest place they've been' in season 6

As more details about season six of Outlander emerge it appears this season will be intense for most of our beloved cast. With Fraser's Ridge at the centre of a storm of antagonistic newcomers, the coming war and past conflicts, it seems things could get a lot darker.

For one couple in particular, this will definitely be the case.Fergus (César Domboy) and Marsali (Lauren Lyle) are fan favourites and rightly so, their youthful relationship has been one of the highlights of the show in recent seasons.However, in the coming season 6, Fergus is beginning to feel the pressure of being a father and things take a turn for the worse.Speaking with TV Insider for their Outlander Forever Special Collector’s Issue, César revealed: “He [Fergus] is struggling and deciding to drink his way out of sadness."As would be expected, the feisty Marsali isn't happy with this, as Lauren adds: “They were the cool, fun couple."Now they are in the darkest place they’ve been in.”Showrunner Matthew B.

Roberts followed this up by adding that this season will be a big one for Jamie's stepdaughter, he said: “Marsali, because she’s been around Claire and Brianna, senses that a woman can be a lot more than what the time says she can be.

She steps up in a way that’s kind of out of time for her.”The show boss confirmed that this season will be an emotional one for everyone, stating that there are many scenes where they "just let the actors go".“The audience is going to be on the edge of their seats and holding their breaths," revealed Matthew.
