Broadway said a few so-longs last week, with the star-studded Our Town ending its limited run and some original cast members of Oh, Mary!
and The Great Gatsby giving way to replacements. Ticket-buyers were there to see everyone off. Our Town, the Thornton Wilder classic starring Jim Parsons, Katie Holmes, Ephraim Sykes and Zoey Deutch, among others, had its best week since opening last fall: The revival at the Ethel Barrymore grossed $1,084,024 for its final week, up $128,404 from the previous week.
Just more than 95% of seats were occupied. Oh, Mary! star (and creator) Cole Escola played their final week in the title role of Mary Todd Lincoln (American Primeval‘s Betty Gilpin takes over tonight for an eight-week run).
The comedy has been selling out for months, and Escola’s final performances were no exception. Oh, Mary! grossed $1,253,871 for the week ending January 19.
