Around one-in-five adults are looking for a better paid job amid the cost of living crisis, a survey has found. In a survey carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), 19 per cent of adults polled said they were looking for a job that pays more money - including a promotion or moving to a different employer.

Almost everyone - 91 per cent of those polled - said their costs had increased in the last year amid rising energy bills and higher petrol and food prices.

15 per cent of people surveyed said they are working extra hours in their job because costs are rising so they need more money.

Around 4 per cent said they have taken on another job to help meet their costs. READ MORE: NHS staff quitting health service 'for better paid jobs in shops and hospitality' The survey also found 7 per cent are going to work more often to save on their energy bills.
