Liam James Payne (born 29 August 1993) is an English singer and songwriter.
He rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction.
Payne made his debut as a singer when he auditioned for the British television series The X Factor in 2008. After being eliminated as a solo performer, he auditioned again in 2010 and was put into a group with four other contestants to form One Direction
Niall Horan has appeared in public for the first time since it was announced that his One Direction bandmate Liam Payne had tragically passed away at the age of 31.
On Wednesday, 16 October, it was reported that Liam had fallen from a hotel balcony in Argentina and had sustained "very serious injuries incompatible with life." Liam rose to fame when he joined Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson to form the band One Direction during their journey on The X Factor in 2010.
Despite finishing the show in third place, they became a global sensation and sold over 70 million records before they split in 2016.
After news emerged of Liam's tragic death, his fellow One Direction bandmates have not yet publically spoken out. However, on Thursday, 17 October, Niall, 31, broke his cover and was spotted in public looking devastated following the loss of his pal Liam.
